INTERCULTURAL AND INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE: WHAT STRATEGIES FOR LASTING PEACE IN THE SAHEL?:

The Alioune Blondin BEYE Peacekeeping School organized from March 21 to 23, 2023 in its conference room, a high-level international seminar on the theme “Intercultural and inter-religious dialogue: what strategies for lasting peace in the Sahel ? ". Funded by the Federal Republic of Germany, this seminar brought together eminent specialists chosen from traditional legitimacies, religious leaders, senior government officials, experts in the field of security, development, civil society, as well as teacher-researchers recognized nationally and internationally, both for their scientific contributions and for their concrete involvement in stabilization efforts in the Sahel. Participants came from the Sahel countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Chad), Algeria and Morocco. They looked at the mechanisms and specific contributions of intercultural and inter-religious dialogue for lasting peace in the Sahel. Intercultural and interreligious dialogue can lead to changes in positions and mobilization to act on the root causes of the crisis in the Sahel.
