Visit of the first female general officer to command a force of the UN peacekeepers, Major General Kristin Lund

On Wednesday February 19, 2020, EMP-ABB received a visit from the first female general officer to command a UN peacekeeper force, General Kristin Lund. From his command of the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces in Cyprus (UNFICYP), General Kristin Lund is appointed Commander of the United Nations Truce Oversight Body (UNUST); it was in October 2017, on the appointment of the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.
General Kristina Lund's journey is an example in itself that has inspired more than one and she intends that this continue. A fervent activist on gender issues, she did not fail to stress this point during her visit to EMP-ABB and she was even able to attend part of the force's “Gender, Peace and Security” training. joint G5 Sahel and Japan.
After discussions with the Director General of EMP-ABB, the visit of the school premises, le Major General Kristin Lund made a point of meeting all the women of the school in order to briefly exchange and above all share a motivational speech. His message was first addressed to female interns and staff, and then will be extended to all. Le Major General Kristin Lund stressed the importance of the involvement of women in the various processes of protection and strengthening of peace and congratulated the EMP-ABB for its commitment.
