EMP and Canada Strengthen Partnership

Two Canadian police officers will be deployed to Mali from January 2020 for one year. They will strengthen the staff of the Alioune Blondin Bèye Peacekeeping School in Bamako. The Director General of the EMP, Colonel Major Mody Berethé and the Ambassador of Canada to Mali, HE Michael Elliot signed this Monday, December 9, 2019 in the premises of the School in Djicoroni-Para the agreement governing the deployment of these officers in this sense.
According to the director of the EMP, Canada continues to assert its interest in building the capacity of the Peacekeeping School through the intervention of its nationals as well as the sending of Malian trainees to Canada. He said that the 2 Canadian police officers will reinforce the offer in terms of police training for the police component of the PME. The Director of the School then added that Canada is a reliable partner of the School thanks to its physical presence. Colonel Major Mody Berethé hopes that the presence of the 2 Canadian police officers will improve the level of their services.

The Canadian Ambassador to Mali said he was delighted to sign the agreement between the EMP and his country, which is a founding member of the Peacekeeping School. He added that he is happy to send people to the field to join the Foreign Affairs team. According to him, the 2 Canadian police officers will bring their experiences to the EMP in training on community policing.
