ASSISTANT ENGLISH TEACHER
English-language training program related to peace, security and development
Partnership: Kentucky State University (KSU) – Alioune Blondin BEYE Peacekeeping School (EMP-ABB)
1. CONTEXT AND JUSTIFICATION
As part of the implementation of the English training program related to peace, security and development, initiated by the Alioune Blondin BEYE Peacekeeping School (EMP-ABB) in partnership with Kentucky State University (KSU), a call for applications is open for the recruitment of an assistant English teacher.
This program, scheduled to begin in September 2026, aims to strengthen the language skills of African professionals working in international environments related to peace, security, and development. To ensure the quality and effectiveness of the training, academic support is required to assist KSU instructors in implementing the teaching activities.
2. MAIN MISSIONS
Under the joint supervision of the EMP-ABB and KSU teachers, the assistant English teacher will be responsible for:
• assist KSU English teachers in preparing and leading online courses;
• support the educational supervision of learners (monitoring of exercises, corrections, feedback);
• facilitate the understanding of content for French-speaking learners;
• contribute to facilitating interactive sessions (group work, discussions, simulations);
• participate in the ongoing evaluation of participants;
• provide administrative and educational support related to the smooth running of courses;
• to foster a dynamic, inclusive and intercultural learning environment.
3. DESIRED PROFILE
The candidate must meet the following criteria:
• hold a university degree in English, linguistics, translation, education or a related field;
• demonstrate excellent command of English (spoken and written) and French;
• have experience in teaching English or in educational support (major asset);
• have a good knowledge of issues related to peace, security and development (an asset);
• master digital tools and distance learning platforms;
• demonstrate rigor, professionalism and the ability to work in an intercultural environment;
• have good interpersonal and teaching skills.
4. JOB CONDITIONS
• Type of contract: Service contract covering the duration of the program;
• Location: Online training (with coordination in Bamako);
• Availability: In the evening (class times: 17:00 PM – 18:30 PM, Mali time);
• Start date: September 2026.

1. Purpose of the position
Primary objective
Supporting KSU teachers in the pedagogical implementation of the program, facilitating learners' learning and contributing to the strengthening of language skills related to peace, security and development.

3. Missions and responsibilities
Main areas of activity
Pedagogical support: Assisting in the preparation of materials, participating in the delivery of lessons, reformulating content, monitoring exercises
Learner support: Accompanying learners, providing feedback, identifying difficulties
Facilitation: Facilitating discussions, leading group work, encouraging participation
Evaluation: Participate in ongoing evaluations, contribute to evaluation tools, and monitor performance.
Organizational support: Ensure logistical follow-up, coordinate sessions, participate in educational meetings.
4. Profile and required skills

Academic qualifications: Minimum Bachelor's degree in English, linguistics, translation, education or a related field
Experience: Teaching or pedagogical support experience (desired), e-learning experience (an asset)
Technical skills: Excellent command of English/French, proficiency in digital tools (Zoom, Teams, etc.)
Transferable skills: Rigor, organization, communication, teamwork, adaptability
Strengths: Knowledge of peace, security, and development issues; international experience.
