Interview with Commissioner Lieutenant-Colonel Gumedzoe of the Togolese Armed Forces

Commissioner Lieutenant-Colonel Gumedzoe Komlan Edem Agbenyega of the Togolese Armed Forces, temporary instructor at EMP-ABB, gave his module
in the course “UN-LOG DEU” in videoconference from Togo.
He shares his impressions with us.

First of all, I would like to thank EMP-ABB for their trust in calling on us whenever necessary. The use of the "Zoom" teleconferencing application by EMP-ABB to deliver courses by videoconference is an innovation to be welcomed. This is just one illustration of the “organizational resilience of EMP-ABB”; because despite the travel restrictions caused by this Covid-19 pandemic, the school has not remained passive but has been able to adapt by setting up these distance courses for trainees present on Malian territory.
If this innovation has many advantages, the fact remains that it has certain limits. In fact, it should be noted that the challenge of videoconference courses is dependent on the quality of the connection and the equipment. The EMP-ABB is fortunate to have the appropriate resources and state-of-the-art equipment, which is not necessarily the case for the facilitator or instructor. This therefore requires the facilitator, good material preparation in advance so that it is in phase with the EMP-ABB.
As for the result of the expectations, I would say that it is easier for a class made up of trainees all coming from the EMA, therefore a promotion of learners who knew each other before the course, to participate in a more active and more committed way. In the case of a more heterogeneous class, where the trainees are not of the same class or during the integrated courses made up of soldiers, civilians and police; this may impact the participation of trainees in the course. She will be less active.
Finally, allow me to thank the Internship Director and all the facilitators for their constant availability, which made this course a success by videoconference.
I do not forget this promotion of the EMA, school from which I came (2002-2003). It is a very active promotion and I have no doubt that it is full of great financiers and logisticians.
I thank the EMP-ABB for the confidence.
