Ministry of Foreign Affairs and EMP-ABB: Increase the participation of Malians in peacebuilding missions

As a member state of the United Nations, Mali also contributes by providing human resources to UN missions. It is this component that motivated the Alioune Blondin Beye Peacekeeping School and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) to co-organize the conference on "new dynamics at the level of regional organizations , continental and international ”. The said conference took place on Thursday February 20, 2020, in the international conference room of the EMP-ABB, and was placed under the co-presidency of Mr. Noël Diarra, technical adviser at DFAIT and that of Colonel-Major Mody Béréthé, Director General of the EMP-ABB.

Also present were the Controller General of Police Célestin Domboua from the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection, as well as all the directorates of the Peacekeeping School Alioune Blondin Beye.

The agenda of the meeting focused on the establishment of a coordination mechanism allowing to raise the level of representativeness of the mali within the different missions. During the discussions, particular emphasis was placed on the participation of female staff.

After multiple proposals for solutions, a working group bringing together the various stakeholders in the appointment of Malian personnel for UN missions was set up. His mission ; produce a support document which will be shared between the various departments involved in the designation process and which will increase the level of representativeness of Mali within the various peacekeeping and support missions.
