FIRST FUNDAMENTAL KNOWLEDGE INTERNSHIP 2015 AT EMP

It is thanks to the generosity of Swiss Cooperation that the Bamako EMP was able to organize the very first “Fundamental Knowledge on PSOs” course of the year 2015. This course is intended to provide basic knowledge to civilian personnel or in uniform who has only limited experience in Peace Operations. It is based on the basic training modules prior to United Nations deployments.

Many trainees thus joined Bamako for the first time on April 6, only three of them had already passed through our walls. New ones, therefore, but not least, coming from 12 countries in West and Central Africa as well as Ethiopia, Cape Verde and Comoros, a real continental melting pot of which the EMP has the secret. The only peculiarity, the low female representativeness, the EMP is experiencing difficulties in honoring parity between the two sexes among its trainees, despite the deliberately “pro-gender” policy pursued at the school for over a year. However, the encouraging figures for the next sessions should be able to quickly return to the goal of at least 30% of female trainees that the EMP has set for 2015.

After taking place under excellent conditions, the course ended on April 11, each of its members calling for future schooling at the EMP in Bamako, in the service of “Africa United For Peace ”, As its motto demands.
