IHL and DCA

As part of the dissemination of the Law of Armed Conflict for the benefit of the armed forces of Europe and Africa, the International Institute of Humanitarian Law (IIHR - San Remo, Italy) organized from April 12 to 24, 2015 a course of high level entitled “International Military Course on Armed Conflicts” at the Air School in Salon de Provence (France). This two-week course brought together 52 members of the armed forces and two civilians from France, Madagascar, Mali and Niger. Its objective was to teach participants the rules and principles that govern IHL-DCA and their application in a constraining contemporary operational environment.

The Bamako EMP had the chance to be selected to send a Permanent Instructor (IP) to train intensively in International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and the Law of Armed Conflict (DCA) within a group of students who came from various military backgrounds and in a studious multinational atmosphere.

The EMP now has an additional expert in these two fields, an expert who will not fail to share his knowledge with future interns at the school.

Finally, this reminds us of the pedagogical principle according to which quality teaching begins with strengthening the skills of instructors.
