COLLECTIVE SECURITY AT EMP

It was on Friday May 22, 2015 that two training sessions related to Collective Security were completed in Bamako. In fact, two DDR (Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration) and RSS (Security Sector Reform) internships have been funded over the last two weeks by Japan and were particularly aimed at Malian personnel involved in these activities.

Thus, during these “level 1” training, more than fifty men and women, civilians and in uniform, will have learned the knowledge necessary for any DDR and SSR implementation in a post-conflict environment. With the news in Mali and the current attempts at peace, there is no doubt that these new experts will quickly find a voice.

Indeed, some of these trainees could be part, in the future, of the National Commissions currently set up by the Malian authorities. This training, which was therefore “timely” and soon supplemented by a “level 2 RSS” course, shows how much the Bamako EMP is in touch with the reality of the continent's needs in the service of peace.
